Types of Patients

Dr Keeley welcomes a wide range of patients to the clinic. He is a very active orthopaedic surgeon running a busy lower-limb private practice.

He also remains committed to the public system, providing emergency department trauma cover at St George Hospital and elective lower-limb surgery at Sutherland Hospital.

We see the following types of patients:

  • Private patients (ie: those with private health insurance)
  • Self-funded patients (ie: uninsured patients willing to pay directly to have their surgery in a private hospital, to avoid the public hospital waiting list)
  • Public patients (ie: uninsured patients)
  • Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) patients
  • Workers Compensation patients
  • Compulsory Third Party insurance (CTP) patients

Workers Compensation & Compulsory Third Party insurance (CTP) patients

If the condition relates to a Workers Compensation or CTP claim, please bring your claim number, approval letter for appointment, insurer details, name and contact details of your case manager.

Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Patients

Dr Keeley welcomes DVA patients as he accepts the rebate from DVA for your operation. If you are a Gold Card holder, then approval is straight forward. If you are a White Card holder, then approval will only be provided if it relates to a “Recognised Condition” that you were awarded the White Card for. It is recommended that both Gold and White Card holders get in touch with us to confirm your level of coverage for the operation you may require, so that approval can be coordinated if needed.
